The orphanage is the centerpiece for an exciting new project.
The project will create a cycle of life farm system that will be a prototype for self sustaining missions around the world. The system integrates aquaponics with agriculture. We will be building a greenhouse that houses aquaponics , contains birthing chambers for Tilapia fish, and serves as a training center.
The 3 grow-out tanks will serve to farm thousands of fish. The 15 raised beds will be the initial steps in growing fresh vegetables that are fertilized from the waste water of the fish in combination with the composte material already being collected. Chickens will be raised for consumption and egg laying as part of the cycle of life.
Our goal is to raise the level of nutrition for the kids, create a marketable industry within the orphanage that brings income, and develop a training center for missionaries around the world.
We will soon be constructing a metal canopy over the fish tanks. We have the metal in the Dallas area and are in need of some preparation on the metal, a large trailer to transport it to the orphanage, and then the erection of the canopy.
Our next step is to construct a greenhouse approximately 12 X 20. At this time we do not have the funding for the materials.
There will be numerous small projects to coordinate once these 2 major hurdles are met.
